CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY 2008

1st Ballina Scout Group and Ballina Girl guides Clean Up in Ballina.

Even the wind and rain, couldn't stop the 1st Ballina Joey Scouts, Cubs, Scouts and Girl Guides from taking part in Clean Up Australia Day on 2nd March
With a fantastic turnout of over 50 people to help pick up everyone else's rubbish. They collected lots of the usual rubbish such as bottles and cans filling nearly 40 bags, with a few surprises this year such as computer monitors, clothing and even a Box Trailer that had been dumped full of timber and rubbish. With such a massive effort we covered from Bi-Centennial Gardens and Southern cross drive in North Ballina down to Riverview park and across to Fishery Creek bridge. I would like to thank everyone for participating in this great community event in this the Centenary Year of Scouting in Australia. And a Big Thank you to the Ballina Shire Council for arranging to collect ALL of the rubbish from the Scout Halls Collection point.
