Australia Day Ceremony 2008
We had a fantastic turnout of
Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Leaders totaling 27.
Cooper from the Scouts, Breeanna
from Joeys and Jack from Cubs were chosen to be in the flag party.
The flag was piped down the
riverbank by one of the Ballina pipe band members and was carried by the
Lismore Naval Cadets. The flag was handed to Sea-Hog who clipped it onto the
flag pole, and it was raised by Cooper while the rest of the Scout group
saluted and the piper played "Advance Australia Fair". There was a healthy
crowd numbering in the 100's who witnessed the first of what will hopefully be
many community events that the 1st Ballina Scout group participate in during
this the 100th Year of Scouting in Australia.
I would like to take this
opportunity to thank the Ballina Shire Council for allowing us to participate
in the event, and of course I want to thank all of the group members who took
the time to come and support 1st Ballina Scout Group.
A very proud BAGHEERA
