Welcome to 1st Ballina Scouts |

|
Scouting is a worldwide movement that has shaped the development of youth and adults for more than 100 years. Scouts are in every part of our community, and Scouts is the biggest and most successful youth organisation in Australia. More than 20,000 thousand boys, girls, and adults in New South Wales from wide cultural or religious backgrounds or with an intellectual or physical disability enjoy an almost unlimited range of activities.
The aim of Scouting is to encourage the physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual development of young people so they may play a constructive role in society as responsible citizens and as members of their local and international communities. This aim is achieved through a strong and active program that inspires young people to do their best and to always be prepared.
Established in 1921, 1st Ballina Scouts recently celebrated its 87th birthday on 25th April (Anzac Day) 2009. Our programs seek to encourage positive attitudes in the minds of Ballina’s youths that will stand them in good stead throughout the rest of their lives. We aim to foster initiative, self-reliance, responsibility, respect and consideration for others in each of our scouting members, while taking into consideration the level of development of each age group and of each individual.
We achieve this through: · Actively participating in community events · Commitment to a code of living as expressed in our Promise and Law · Providing a wide range of attractive, constructive and challenging activities, including opportunities for adventure and exploration both indoors and outdoors · The provision of opportunities for leadership responsibility and initiative · Learning by doing · An award scheme that encourages participations in a full range of activities and provides recognition of individual and group achievements
The Scouting Promise has 3 fundamental parts: · Duty to your God · Duty to one’s self · Duty to other people
If your family beliefs preclude your child from participating in any religious or patriotic activities, for example saying a prayer or saluting the flag, then now is the time to bow out. Please note, however, that we are not affiliated with any particular religion, nor is membership of a church a pre-requisite for joining any scouts group. |
